Finding the Perfect Birmingham Plumbing Contractor for the Job

Every Birmingham homeowner, at some point, will be in need of a plumber. Plumbing may be considered a modern marvel but the very thing that makes our lives so convenient can also ruin our homes. Water in the wrong place can be disastrous and what starts out as a tiny drip if left without repair can end up costing thousands over time.

Many plumbing issues are quick fixes and with just a little know-how there are a few common repairs that can be accomplished with ease, but it it’s important to know when a professional Birmingham plumber is needed. While plumbing isn’t necessarily difficult, much of it is beyond the abilities and knowledge of the average homeowner and a botched job can end up costing you way more than if you had called an experienced plumber in the first place.

Choosing the right Birmingham plumber can mean the difference between a positive outcome and a complete disaster, so it’s important use care when selecting a plumber. Of course an emergency will limit your ability to be selective. If you wait for a plumbing emergency your first instinct will probably be to call the first plumber you see listed in the yellow pages and seriously if time is of the essence you may have no other choice. Establishing a relationship of sorts with a good Birmingham plumber before you really need one is a good idea.

Tracking Down the Perfect Birmingham Plumbing Contractor

Of course if you’re planning a new home or a remodeling project, you’ll have the time to shop around for a good Birmingham plumber Some plumbers may only work in new construction or remodeling projects and many may only work in commercial plumbing, so make certain you find one that can meet your specific needs. If you’re remodeling your home and are fortunate enough to find a Birmingham plumber that does both residential remodeling and repairs, you’re in luck. You’ll have someone that is already familiar with all your plumbing installations and can fix a problem should one arise.

The best method of finding a Birmingham qualified plumber is to ask family, friends or neighbors for their recommendations. Real estate agents and local home contractors are another valuable source in locating a capable plumber. These businesses are generally familiar with plumbers during home sales, new construction or remodeling jobs. They have the best information as to the availability and reliability of a Birmingham plumber.

We had two stopped up toilets at 8:00 PM the Sunday night before we were putting our condo on the market. We wanted someone to come out fast and fix it. And they did. The work was good; the plumber they sent out was friendly and helpful, and they didn't charge me twice what they would have during business hours, as many others that I called would have.
Birmingham Plumbing Company took out dead vents and replaced them up to the roof line. They added a first floor toilet (rough in) and ran vent, water, and drain lines (rough in) for a first floor powder room and our kitchen remodel. They also relocated our gas line for our stove. One word: TERRIFIC. To be honest I was terrified to hire a plumber. Unfortunately the trades can get a bruised reputation from all of the horror stories I've heard which is why I ultimately got five estimates. Dave made the best impression of anyone. He spent a long time looking at every aspect of the existing plumbing and was extremely detailed in his assessment of the job. The bid was on the higher end of the price range but not the highest of them all. The gas line was not included on the original bid but they were willing to negotiate that into the contract. Once work began, it was a near seamless process. Jason and Vince showed up early and worked full days to get the job done on time. They were extremely professional and very accommodating to the electrical work going on around them. They cleaned up after themselves and took time out to explain different aspects of what they were doing. I would absolutely recommend these guys to anyone. They do plumbers proud.
The hose bib on an outdoor water line broke causing our basement to flood. Our call to Power was handled as always promptly and pleasantly by Rae who said she would try to get a plumber to us as quickly as possible. One hour later Jason arrived and within an hour had the repair completed. He had to break through drywall to access the pipe and he did that and the pipe repair quickly, neatly and efficiently. He told us the pipe was not pitched properly for drainage and we made arrangements with him to return 3 days later to correct that problem. For the second repair, Rae called us to let us know he was on his way, and again Jason completed the work quickly and neatly. We appreciate the fact that Jason told us about the improper pitch of that pipe. Everyone we have ever worked with at Power has been the picture of professionalism. They will always be our go-to plumbers.
